Meeting Recap
- News and Information
- Historical imagery has been updated to fix nearly all of the missing areas, just a few, small areas remain
- 2017 NAIP is available as a web service, but that will be updated when the GeoTiffs come in
- NGS liaison plans to be on-site to discuss the new datum
- Main Street Initiative
- A website is now available
- A number of datasets are being identified that will be used to feed reporting tools
- Metadata will be key to document these datasets, e.g., date/time stamp and use limitations
- Datum/Coordinate System
- The GIS website references the state coordinate system in Century Code
- It would likely help users and the vendor community if there was more clarity and details
- This clarity will also assist when the new datums come out
- More discussions will be had, including updating the GIS website to have additional details
- Geo-Enabled Elections NSGIC Project
- The National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) has received a grant to assist in integrating GIS into state election systems
- Address points and precinct boundaries are two primary datasets
- This will be worth following
- GISER Inventory
- This is the Emergency Response database, and was originally set up for flood fighting
- It's designed as a means to assist others, e.g., those in the EOC from federal agencies, to have access to pertinent data
- Over the years it's become filled with a number of layers, some of which are duplicated elsewhere
- A number of layers will be identified to determined if they should be removed
- Training
- Looking to set up an instructor-led class
- An email will be sent out, asking for what classes are of interest
- State agencies need to be in a class before that class can be had; cities and counties will be invited to participate
