The individual in this position is responsible for conducting criminal and narcotic investigations and obtaining intelligence information which includes conducting interviews and surveillance, working with confidential informants and all criminal justice agencies, operating specialized equipment, gathering and maintaining evidence, and working in an undercover capacity. This individual is also responsible for serving on a statewide task force and providing law enforcement training to officers throughout the state. This position will be located in Devils Lake, ND. In addition to the monthly salary, this position includes fully paid health insurance for employee and family, the option to participate in employee-paid dental and vision for employee and family, participation in the state NDPERS defined contribution retirement plan as well as the option to participate in the 457 deferred compensation plan, the option to contribute to a medical spending account, and earning annual and sick leave.Employees in this position are eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.Duties and TasksParticipate in supervised basic investigations such as burglary, forgery, possession of controlled substance, larceny/theft, assault, gaming, motor vehicle thefts, stolen property, and other assigned investigations.Maintain proficiency in use of specialized technical equipment.Complete other duties associated with search warrants, preservation of evidence, and case preparation, to include providing sworn testimony.Conduct illegal drug investigations and work in an undercover role.Apprehend and convict suspects who are responsible for the crime.Obtain and exchange intelligence information.Conduct surveillance activities.Prepare and present case reports.Develop and maintain associations with confidential informants.Coordinate arrest and search warrant activities.Operate electronic surveillance equipment.Gather and maintain evidence.Provide law enforcement training.Extensive travel to include overnight stays will be required; vehicle will be provided.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five years of investigative experience is preferred. An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a North Dakota peace officer. Excellent report writing, communication skills, prioritization, time management, and organization skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective, harmonious working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, all criminal justice agencies, and the public. Maintain a high degree of confidentiality.Be in good physical condition. Ability to work in an undercover capacity. Ability to be certified as a North Dakota law enforcement instructor. Possess a valid state issued driver's license.Must carry a firearm and maintain firearm proficiency. Job Duration: Late-March to Late-October Weekly work hours up to 35 or 40 preferred, hours subject to negotiation. The historical interpreter will execute their responsibilities with a positive attitude, neat appearance, and enthusiasm. The successful applicant will: Actively listen to visitors, answer their questions, welcome and orient them, lead hands-on activities, assist with special events, and lead guided tours. Interpret site history enjoyably and accurately, making good use of research and training. Familiarize visitors with the State Historical Society mission and its other state historic sites. Assess and provide for visitors' special needs, such as appropriate services for the elderly, handicapped, and foreign visitors. Provide excellent customer service. Clean and tidy facilities including work areas, public areas and bathrooms. Perform other light maintenance tasks which might include watering and weeding outdoor plantings, dusting, and emptying trash receptacles. Assist with store operations that includes keeping merchandise neatly displayed and dusted, keeping track of inventory, and operating and reconciling a cash register, while following policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years oldAbility to communicate with groups and individuals of diverse ages, interests, and perspectives, using appropriate language and hands-on skills. Ability to learn site history. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and some evenings. At the North Dakota Department of Transportation, we owe our success to our people and processes. As a Transportation Engineer in our Devils Lake District, you will manage small and medium construction projects and be the main inspector on large projects. The ideal person for this position will be a problem solver with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. You will manage construction projects, monitor contractor operations and assure project is built according to the plans and specs.
